Snow was still on the ground, yet this Sunday morning somehow felt like the first day of spring! With the sun shining on our backs, me and H.R. Rustica took it to Armada, where the band's roots began. We visited the grainery for some shoots at the trail and the old existing wooden facade, then a quick detour to the studio in town. Finally with time on our side, we strolled through downtown, talking about the hot spots, the history. It made me realize how much we value our roots. It will always be our home and that will never change.

Snapshots of the week: Menorah in the D

It was not only a night to celebrate the holidays, but to also celebrate the progress Detroit is making. I keep saying that this city will look completely different 3 years from now. Yet I think my expectations are too low as within a few months, I've seen a whole line of restaurants and shops open up, rail lines constructed. Keep coming to this city and every time you'll find something new.

Snapshots of the week: The Barn Swallows @ The Ritz

Last night, an upcoming local band, The Barn Swallows were playing at the Ritz Detroit. I've been coming to their shows every now and then, but they are now seriously considering more content for their music. So I'm planning on shooting more photos for them as well as video. Here's some shoots I got from my Canon 70D with a 50mm. I also set up my new GoPro Hero 4 Black around the stage for some shots (unfortunately most came out blurry). 

 

Some of the shots were flooded with a Red light. I used the advice of converting those to Grayscale, since the color Red works well under grayscale. Here's some of the shots that I converted. They have some strong, grainy accents that compliment an older feel of concert photography.
